View Full Version : Earth Under Toposurface

This is probably a very obvious thing, but how does one get the ground to show under a toposurface?
Right now, I have a toposurface created from a CAD contour plan, and it just looks like it is floating in space, when I cut it in section. When I look at it in a 3D view and cut it with a section box, it appears blue underneath. I want the ground underneath it to appear hatched when it is cut and have it appear brownish when in a 3D view, how can I achieve this?
Thanks in advance!

I have attached a jpeg of what the 3D view looks like now, but I would like to have the blue part appear like earth.
Under the site properties, materials and finishes, I chose the cut pattern to be earth, but this doesn't seem to work.
Any suggestions?

The earth cut pattern is for 2D views. Topography is currently modeled only as a 3D surface, not a solid with a 3D face. If you need a 3D view like this and the limits are fixed, you could add a solid or a wall that is "scribed" to your surface and is below the topography.

Under your site settings you can control the pattern and depth of the fill for your section views. (see image)
In 3D views the topo will only show with a 'base' if you use the section box option to cut through the surface. The color of the cut portion is controlled by the 'poche' material for coarse detail level and the site material for medium and fine level of detail. You can 'fake' it to get Revit to show a surface pattern n the cut but only at coarse level of detail. Experiment a little with the poche material but keep in mind this will affect other section views as well.

Thanks for the help! By changing the 3D view with the section box enabled from Course to Medium changed the area under the toposurface from blue to brown.
Thanks again for the help and suggestions!
