I am trying to make a wall with two different types of stone on the exterior side. Stone 1 from base to 3' and stone 2 from 3' to top. Is there a way to do this?

Yep.

Create 2 separate walls, one with each stone pattern.

Then, create a stacked wall. In the properties, you tell it which walls to "stack" on top of each other, and at what elevation.

Actually split layers will work way better if your stones have the same thickness.
