In the attached Family, things show right if cut in Level Plan.
Cut Plan offset 30/ 150 / 30.
But if the family is inserted in a project, things show not any more correct.

But I noticed, that if I saved the family let say with the cut plane offset on 150, then it show also correct in the project on the same height. This goes also for the height of 30, resp. 330.

Is there a way so that in the project all the 3 diffrent levels are shown correct.

Since the project has diffrent items of which the height is over 3m in height, it would be nice to be able to cut on any height.

why affects a saved view range in a family the appearance in a project.

the saved view range let say is 180cm in the family and the view range in the project is 120cm

must the view range in the family be identical as in the project

No, the view parameters for the family have no effect when the family is loaded into a project. The project view parameters prevail.

The Family view parameters only effect the thumbnail view of the family you see before loading it, or else what you see when you open that Family to edit it independently of the project.

hey beegee

my understanding was as well that the view range in the family should not be relevant in the project

but seems this is not correct. if you insert the family which i attached in the first mail, you will see, that the appearance changes in the project, if the view range is changed in the family file.

so is there something wrong in the family attached or does the view range matter?

for the project I'm working it really matters, since most of the openings are 3m and more in height.

Apart, when I try to insert the family, the obejct saved in 2.5m tends to make problems (it takes long time to stick, or only after few tries.
not so if applied in 3d-view.

cut pattern: in the famly, the choosen pattern shows correct, but no sign when inserted in the project (did not yet check)

Gerhard,

I havn't been able to recreate the problem.

I have changed the cut plan offset position in the family and reloaded it in a project. It does not change in the project.

You may need to send a file to tech support for them to look at.
