the condition is very simple construction its 2x6s under roof joist that are on an angle, i modeled the roof joists and the 2x6's and did a extruded generic model in section for the gyp i stretched it across the room and it was fine but i forgot i have a skylight and i need to make an opening in the ceiling for the skylight

Create an in-place void under the ceiling category, and remember to use the (modify>cut) tool on you ceiling before exiting the in-place family :beer:

Just "Sketch" a ceiling instead of auomatic, and you'll be able to put a slope arrow in it, just as you would a floor.,
