I've been thinking about making the process a little easier and wondered if anyone has done the following,

Make all the accessory families "shared" load them into the toilet partition families, then use yes no toggles to display what accessories are in each stall. Ie a typical stall Mens has the toilet paper and robe hook, the typ. womens has that plus the san.napkin disposal, etc. I just wish when you nested families you could make them shared or not without making new families.

This is how I have some of my partitions set up and it works great. All the accessories go in the right spot, can be keynoted separately from the partition and will register in an accessory schedule.

All of ours are done this way. The only thing that DOESNT come in with the stall, is the Toilet Itself. Mainly thats because of our Interiors folks using a lot of Custom Content for manufacturer specifics, and differences in Hosting, plus differences in manufacturer content, even though it goes through QC before they can use it.

There are two toilet stall families, that each have:

1. Options for Ceiling Hung, Floor Mounted, or Overhead braced (Construction wise. Theyre all Wall Hosted Revit wise)
2. Grab bars, with options for Accesible, Ambulatory, or none, includning movement constraints for various codes.
3. All sizes (of course) are flexible, as are materials.
4. Accessories can toggle on or off, for San. Nap. Disposals, etc.
5. Side partitions toggle on or off for ganging them together.
6. Doors have flip controls in or out, and side to side, for layout purposes.

The two families work identically, except one is front entry and one is side. it could all be in one family, but theres no point multiplying all of the visibility parameters by a factor of two, just for that reason.

Yes, just as Aaron stated that is what we have done, sort of. We do have the toilets shared in the stall families as well. Then Type driven stall types within a single family for Handicapped and non-handicapped. (which also changes the height of the toilet as well. Our accessories are set to only appear at Fine detail level, so 1/8" plans and other enlarged plans get set to medium, and the accessories don't show up.

Like Aaron, we do have the doors, stall sides, and Sanitary napkin disposals as check boxes.

We first changed the toilet stalls to Generic Models, and nested them, the accessories, and toilets into a final specialty equipment family. That way the toilet stalls actually "cut" in an elevation view. We did this so that tile patterns can be shown on the "wet" walls.

Yes, ours are actually Generic Model families as well... At least, the Partitions are. the accessories are all SE, but we did the same things with the Stalls. Ive seen the other workarounds of making them transparent, or making certain panels (doors) not visible in elevation, but we tag all of our materials, so thats a deal breaker for us. At least with the generic model solution, they can pick where to place the elevation, and have them cut or not cut.
