View Full Version : Level datum colors?

another noob question: what is the significance of the level datum marks being either black or blue in color. I thought maybe that it was because the grid line ends were not lined up but that doesn't seem to be the case. See attached

Blue means theres a plan view associated to it. Black means theres no view.

When you create a level, there is a setting at the options bar that says "Make plan views". It is checked by default. There is also a button that takes to a dialog box, in which you can choose to make floor plans or ceiling plans, or both, for the new level that you are about to create. Any level that is created with these default values, creates a floor plan and a ceiling plan in the project browser, and its color is blue.

Now, if a level has the datum symbol in black, it means that there is no view associated with that level. It could mean that the level is just an auxiliary, secondary level indication, or, that it is now orphan because the view that was associated with it was erased from the project browser.

You can turn a black level into blue by associating a view to the level, with View > Plan views > select the name of the 'black' level from the list.
