Question about 'Select All Instances'

I'm working with a lighting plan that has about 30 different families, and about 300-400 total lights. Some of these lights need to change, so I'm choosing one and Selecting All Instances.

The problem is that sometimes I can't find all of the Instances selected. I can see in the properties dialog box how many have been selected, but I have to manually scan the screen to try and find the families that have changed to red (or look for the little 'Make Element Editable' icon)

Is there any easier way to spot all the items that have been selected?

What if before using "Select all instances" you select one of the fixtures and do Isolate Category? Then you can select a light fixture in particular and use "Select all instances in view".
