Hi,

In the attached family I have a set of girts I try to Array. I can array them but how can I control the length of the objects in the array? Say I want to be able to control the length of the girts. In the attached i have a parameter call BayLength – every time I try I get Constrains are not satisfied.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated,

j

The girts are a family with a parameter for length. In the host family you have a parameter for length. Just select one of the girts, go to its properties and you'll see length. Just beside there will be a small box. Select it and you'll have access to the parameters of the host family. Select the length parameter and now every time you change the parameter in the host family it controls the parameter length from the girt family.

The Girt Family is a generic model. I have an instance parameter for the Length. I load the girt family.

When I go to the properties of the nested girt family the instance parameter doesn't show up - see attached.

I know I am missing something basic here as I have done some families before with arrays but now I am a bit baffled.

Thanks,
J

J,

Open your family > edit the group created by the array > select one of the girts > you'll see the length parameter and the small box just beside it, where you can link it to a parameter created in the host family.

Thanks,
I was looking for the parameters in when you right click/propeties in the browser not when you actually select the nested family.
Thanks again,
