Linked Files and "Object Styles <By Host File>"

How far down does this setting go when trying to control the visibility/appearance of a Linked File? Just what is shown in the Object Styles Dialog?

I would like to have our MEP consultant's file show some updated outlets families, etc. Do I have to get our consultant to load these into their file, or is there a way to load these files into my file, and have the families in my file control the appearance of the families in the MEP link?

Since you are talking about Object Styles, I assume you edited the symbollic lines changing them form maybe a heavy to a light or maybe added sub-categories?

I would think that for edited families, they would have to load into their model. Any normal category changes though could be controlled trough your project.

The line work in MEP devices is controlled in Annotation\Generic Annotation. This is not available in the host file (i.e. the specific subcategories) you have to go into the links tab to get at this. And you cannot copy/monitor so I don’t know of any way to swap out content that lives in a link.
