Hello All

I was the drafting guy at a small construction company and can use Revit to make construction DWGs. however I have entered into the world of Architectural Graduate School. I am trying to make a cable stay bridge construct and am having two issues.

The first is I can create the massing for a 'ribbon' in the massing (in the Y, Z Axis) but I cannot create a curved condition in the plan view. If I had the AutoCad 3d tool set I would be OK so how do I get a 3d poly line.

Second I simply need to add cable stays but again how. Make a 'cylinder' that is 500' tall and 3/4" dia.

Thanks

PS got to finish this Thursday noon EST

In the RAC 2010 or 2011 Conceptual Massing tools, use Reference Points, set 3D snapping on, and then draw a spline between points to create the "3D polyline" ( sim. to Acad )

Then select the lines and Create Form.

Note that Ref. Lines and Model lines behave differently--model lines are "consumed"
when creating forms; ref. lines remain. ( as I recall. )

cheers

**edit** I forgot some additional important steps:

place another ref. point on the spline, highlight it and make it's ref. plane
current--then draw a profile of the shape of the cable you want to sweep.
Then select the profile and the spline and Create Form

Thank you

I had had some success with the 300' column I just have to edit in in place. I will post it when done.
