Interior elevation extents defaulting to demo wall locations

I'm placing some interior elevations in a renovation project, on the New Construction plan. For some reason the left and right extents of the elevation defaults to the inside faces of my existing demolished walls, instead of the faces of the new walls.

I tried it on a new project file from our office template (created from scratch in 2011) and it does the same thing. Is this a bug? I don't remember older projects doing this.

What Phase setting is the view where the elevation tag is placed in set to?

Show All, New, Previous, Complete, etc?

Perhaps this drives how the elev. extent orients to walls which are in phases?

Existing demo walls created in Existing phase and demolished in New phase. Plan view is set to New Construction and Show Previous + New. Room objects find the new and existing to remain wall boundaries just fine, it's just the elevations that think they need to stop at the existing demo wall locations.

Even if I set the plan to Show New only, it does the same thing. Show New, Show Complete, doesn't matter.
