Revit 2010 Extensions - Column Base Plate

i've been trying to figure out the base plate tool in extension manager, and so far think its brilliant, it seems to work really well and is really easy to use, but, for some reason im getting an error message (see attached) when i try and run it on certain columns.

basically i was wondering if anybody else has this problem, reasons for this problem and how to solve this problem, any help would be appreciated.

for anyone else suffering from this problem i figured out a short term fix, which is to apply the base plate to a column that works, still make it the correct size for the column you want it to go to. once its on the column, select the base plate and click on pick host and then select the column you want it attched to.

it's solved the problem i was having but if anyone knows anymore about this i would like to hear about it.
