Stair stringer visibility in coarse view

In an enlarged stair framing plan I am having trouble making the stair stringers behave in coarse mode. In medium and fine, the stringer disappears at the view range boundaries exactly as they should. When I switch to coarse mode, the entire stringer is displayed. How do I make coarse mode behave as medium and fine are? Thanks!

you will not be able to get this to happen. I always have to use filled regions or the linework tool to hide what I dont want to see.

Its a work around but its the only way unless someone else has a better idea.
