MY CURRENT PROJECT CALLS FOR SEVERAL SPECIALITY PIECES OF EQUIPMENT, MANY OF WHICH ARE THE SAME. IS IT POSSIBLE TO CREATE A SCHEDULE THAT MARKS ALL SIMILAR PIECES WITH ONE SINGLE MARK THUS ELIMINATING DUPLICATES?

THANKS BILL

Yes. Use Speciality Equipment tags or Generic Model tags, with the label set to Type, not instance. The standard SE tags are set this way " out of the box "

Thank you for the help on this, but I am still abit confused. Do I change the label on the the tag itself or the family?

Thanks again.

Change the label either on the tags or in a schedule view, to identify the different types of equipment.

Unfortunatly when you change the tag itself, it numbers correctly but it duplicates the line entry on the schedule so that if you have (5) number 1 pieces of equipment you end up with 5 number 1 lines in the schedule! I was hoping to get Revit to recogonize similar equipment when inserted and automatically assign the same number for the same pieces and add only one entry with a count in the schedule.

Thanks Bill

In the Schedule's View Properties, uncheck the box for " Itemise Every Instance" under the Sorting / Grouping Tab. You will then get a schedule of types and the count for each type.

beegee,

This seems like a prime candidate for a FAQ. It comes up regularly.
