I have a wall that I unlocked the brick and air gap layers to show correctly on my brick ledge. Those layers have a -1.5" offset.

The problem is, when I insert a door, it shows the offset layer underneath it. Is there any way around this?

I did get it to work by editing the wall profile and drawing the profile around the door frame. The problem with this option is that it turns the edges around the door to into ends, not inserts, so my wrapping doesn't work.

Any other ideas?

I figured out a work around.

I went back and edited the profile like I did before, outlining the door opening. Then I moved the left and right sketch lines in 1/16" so they didn't line up with the door opening. That way, the wall still sees it as an opening and not an end. You can't see the offset in the elevations or 3D views, and the plan views now show the brick returns at the opening.

Not really the correct way to do it, but it works.

Well, it has one issue. Not huge, but frustrating. The sketch won't let you lock the edges to the door frame. So if you move a door, you have to edit the walls profile to fix it. Not a hug problem, but a problem nonetheless.

Did you try placing a dimension from the sketch line (while in Sketch mode) to the door frame and locking the dimension?

maybe i misunderstood your question, you can align door to the bottom of unlocked layer w/o using edit wall profile, for instance, you can just move the door in section view, etc.

True, but then my door sill height will be -1.5", instead of 0. Not that I call out a sill height for doors, but the same problem persists for windows that sit flush with my finished floor. I usually call out sill heights for my windows.

Plus the door will now be 1.5" below my finished floor.

And Scott, nope, never even thought of it! I'll try it and see if it works.
