Hi,

Im trying to create a pattern based curtain panel. I am using a square pattern that has been divided into 4 triangles with the center raised (basically a very short pyramid). All i want to do is create a 1" Gap around the panel so that when i load them onto my conceptual mass, there is a 2" gap between all of the panels.

However, i cannot seem to get this to work. It always gives me errors and says it cannot create the curtain system when i try and add gaps (it works without gaps).

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, is there a way to control the height of the center of the panel, where the triangles meet, so that the height is always 6" regardless of how stretched out the width and height of the panel is when i load it onto a conceptual mass?

Thanks!
Cameron

For the gaps, try creating a void extrusion in the adaptive component family at the perimeter of the solid pyramid form.

For control of the height of the pyramid, place a reference point at the top of the pyramid.
Place a dimension at the reference point and to the reference plane at the ground level/base.

Create a parameter called "height" and then click the dimension and assign it to the height parameter. Lock the dimension at 6" . Then try increasing the footprint size and see if the height stays locked at 6" (flex the family).

Hope this helps.

Thanks Cliff. I tried using a void as suggested. However, turned out I could do the same without voids thanks to the technique below, which would give a more efficient curtain panel family.
