Conceptual Mass Edge Line???

In the conceptual Mass tool... When adding an edge, is there a way to rotate the edge line to horizontal vs. vertical?

Instead of add edge, use add profile. Edges are "vertical" and profiles are "horizontal". I put those in quotes because it's relative to how the shape was created. If an extrusion is created from a profile that was drawn on a vertical plane, then add edge is "horizontal", or relative to how the shape was made.

I discovered that, but it doesn't do what I was trying to do. If I add a vertical edge I then can select either face left or right of the added edge. If I add a profile which gives me a horizontal, I then cannot select the faces above or below the profile edge.
