Hi All~
you genius ppl must able to help me out
i was trying to create some custom pattern for using in Revit, but i still not under stand how the shift works, it says at the helps "These values establish the x-shift and y-shift, which is the x and y distance between the start of any pass and the start of the next pass."
till now i still cant get it right, and the pettern is not work as i thought becos of that shift. is that means the next line start at the point of (2,2) from the origin?? (IF i set the shift is 2,2)
if my understanding is wrong, pleas anyone explain it in details of what is the shift and how it works for me??
please please please~~~~

No. That point is in the coordinate system that is parallel and perpendicular to that line, not the global coordinate system.

Eg: while a line defined by

0,3,2,4,3,1,2

will have repetitions of drawnlength = 1, gaplength = 2 through (3,2), (7,5), (11, 8) ...

a line defined by

90,3,2,4,3,1,2

will have repetitions of drawnlength = 1, gaplength = 2 through (3,2), (0,6), (-2,10) ...

Revit patterns are very similar to AutoCAD's:
