We have a large project and are doing a substantial ID package for it. We have all of the furniture families modeled but when the furniture was placed inside of our revit file it gets unbearably slow to work in (thousands of furniture objects).
Right now our files are structured like this:
File A: The central file has all model components except furniture
File B: Separate file that the central file is linked into, this file only contains furniture.
This works well as far as speed, however we are running into problems scheduling the furniture...
I can link the furniture file back into the central file but the furniture from file B will not associate with the room objects in file A, so I cannot create a schedule by room. I can get all of the furniture to show up on the schedule by clicking the schedule linked files tag but because that model has no room objects in it the furniture does not show as being in a room.
Is there any way to have an object in File B associate with a room in File A?
The options as I see it are this:
1. Copy all of the rooms into the file with the furniture to create our schedule. This sounds like a nightmare as we would have to constantly update 2 files as rooms move, ect.
2. Make a new workset in File A (the central file) that is off by default. Copy all of the furniture into this workset so that everything is in one file, but the furniture is off in most views. If we do this will we still experience the slowdown associated with having all the furniture objects in the central file?
Thanks!
