Hello:

The PM on one of our Revit 2010 projects has reported that the level symbols/endpoints on the sheet elevation and section views have shifted in position. The level heights have not changed, only the designated 2D endpoints. No one on the team knows why. They are now confronted with the task of going into each view and manually repositioning the level endpoints to their previous position.

Can anyone explain under what circumstances these level endpoints could have shifted? What can be done to prevent a re-occurrence?

Col grids and levels can be set in 2D or 3D modes. If you click on a level/grid and see a 3D indicator, then move the grid, that grid will move in all views where the level/grid is controlled in 3D mode. If you click on the level/grid and set the switch to 2D, you can move it and it will only be in that view.

You should check out your help - also read about extents (how to reset 3D grid/levels) and scope boxes.

That's just it... the levels in question were all set to "2D" mode during the original layout and formatting of the sheet elevations....

Fred, were scope boxes used in the project, by chance? Views that are auto-cropped by setting to a scope box can have those crop boundaries modified by either a change to the scope box geometry, or by releasing the scope box from the view properties and manually adjusting the crop. I've seen this on some of our partial/enlarged plans, both done deliberately and accidentally (a view template setting modification is our suspicion).
