I am Civil Engineering student so sooner or later I knew i will need revit. I had an interview and the intervier asked me if i knew it. I said yes. Now I am trying to master it asap.

PROBLEM:
So i finished doing the frame work. i was trying to give railing to my balcony. But it just is not visible or rather not there at all. I tried adjusting the visibility but to no avail. Please help.

Creating railing in Structure? Hmm....

Try changing your view visibility Discipline to Architectural or Coordination

In the VG dialog box, you'll have to check the "All Categories" box near the bottom to be able to see the "Railing" object. Just check the box and the should be visible.

what are you trying to show railing in?
plan, section, 3d?

as mentioned before, make sure you expand the list to "Show all catergories" and check "railings" (in whatever view you want it to show)
if you are drawing it in plan but its not appearing, make sure your workplane is set to current level you are trying to model in

Also be sure that you're cut plane in the view range is set high enough to cut the object. That could be another reason you may not be seeing them. Also depending on what type of view discipline setting you've selected could have something to do with it. Since Railings are not generally considered a structural object, they may not show up. One way to check would be to set it to coordination and that may help. Not sure if the discipline only affects the linked model or if it also controls what's been modeled in the structural model. It was just another thought.

Yayy!! changing the visibility settings helped. I can see my railing. I wonder if its possible to restyle it.
