Labeling straight North, East, South & West lines

Is there a way to make a line segment label so that if a parcel line is straight North, East, South, or West to be labeled so? I am only able to get N 0d00'00" E for north, N 90d00'00" E for east, S 0d00'00" E for south and N 90d00'00" W for west. I would like to do so, so that I don't have to go back and edit the label text. Thanks.
