Windows 7 workstations using RAC 2011.

On one workstation, when a Revit session is started, the "mouse-over" highlight (purple by default) does NOT turn off when you are no longer hovering over the element. Thus, if you wash your mouse over the entire view, eventually everything will be highlighted purple. You have to do something like toggle Thin Lines on/off for the screen to refresh. Then it doesn't do it for the remainder of the Revit session.

On another workstation, the screen refresh doesn't solve the problem. Toggling Thin Lines does clear the highlight, but then subsequent mouse movement starts it all up again. The user can't tell what element they are selecting. You can't "tab through" potential elements, because the highlight for the previous element doesn't turn off.

Nvidia Quadro FX cards with the latest drivers.

DO you have SP2 installed on both machines? There was an issue with the RTM version, with some residual graphic issues that actually had to do with the Modeless Properties palette.

Also, worth noting: Newest drivers dont mean the best, as far as revit goes. What drivers to they have, and what graphics cards?

I have this happen either right at start up or after not doing anything in Revit for a while. A pan or zoom refreshes the screen but it will keep doing it for maybe 30 seconds and then everything works fine again. Its annoying but I haven't been too concerned since it always has fixed itself relatively quickly.

Both workstations have SP2 (build 20100903-2115 x64).

The "at startup" workstation has a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700 with driver 8.17.12.5957.
The other workstation has a Nvidia Quadro FX 3700 with driver 8.15.11.9038. Microsoft thinks this is the latest driver.

The default Nvidia driver download for the FX 3700 is 8.17.12.5981 (or 259.81 as Nvidia calls it).

Autodesk has recommended driver versions. If you search for the recommended driver 8.17.11.9703, Nvidia site returns nothing. However, if you search for 197.03 it returns some drivers for USB, windows vista x86 and windows server 2008 x64. I didn't see one for windows vista or 7 x64. I tried the server 2008 x64 one, but the install failed.

It's definitely a video card issue.
We had the same issue with an Nvidia card. Updating the driver resolved the issue.
Oddly, the driver we used was not the one Autodesk recommended. The recommended driver gave us issues.

So...I think drivers are the right approach, but who knows which one will work.
Start with the autodesk recommended one and go from there...
