View Full Version : How do I move "locked" attribute text in 2011?

In previous versions I was able to click on the text associated with an attributed block (in this case a borehole number next to the borehole symbol) and by using the grip, just move it where I want it.
Now we have the option (or maybe I just never knew this before) to create attribute text that is "locked", so the option to move the text is gone. Is there a way to unlock a block with attribute text that was originally created with the "locked" option?
Thanks in advance.

Go into the Block Editor for that block type. Select your Attributes that you would like to be un-locked. On your Properties Palette, there will be an option to choose whether your Attributes are locked...un-check that option. Save your block definition and close the Block Editor. You should be good to go now.
Hope that helps out!

Thanks Indy ... I must be doing something wrong. I double-clicked on the block, which brought up the enhanced block editor dialogue box. Under the properties tab, there is nothing that indicated "locked" state. Then I tried "tools", "block editor" ... again, there is nothing that indicated "locked" state, but I could select the text and move it. This changes all the blocks in the drawing which is not what I want. WTH? I know I found a command the other day that brought up red crosses and I was able to move the text wherever I wanted but I can't remember what it was.

Try this - Highlight the block, BE (bedit), in the block editor highlight the locked attribute, go to properties, in the last line where it says Lock position, select No.

Try this - Highlight the block, BE (bedit), in the block editor highlight the locked attribute, go to properties, in the last line where it says Lock position, select No.After which you need to synchronize the existing block references' attributes to that of the AttDef's inside the block definition - so after you've done the BClose & save, do an AttSync / BAttMan as well.
