Howzit,

I've just loaded Revit Mep 2011 and was thoroughly enjoying it until I reached a point where I needed to use the System Inspector... Now I have a headache...

The main reason for it failing's because of the classic not "well connected" error which in 2010 and with AUGI's help I was able to solve regularly. Now, it just WILL NOT work... I've included the project hoping that someone out there could lend me a hand. It's very simple and the point of it is to check the pressure drops through out the system's ducting and the total so that my boss may choose a relevant fan. So: first we have the 4 grilles sucking in air to a "Reverse Pulse Unit" which is basically a big filter and where most of the pressure (750Pa) is dropping and then it leaves the RPU through a fan (which is just a thumb suck fan to test this all out with) and then to ducting which will leave the system through a grille. Now, firstly my 4 grilles just WILL NOT connect preventing the System Inspector and secondly, I've made all the connectors Return Air, is this correct? Are we able to or should we add in an Exhaust Air connector somewhere, perhaps near the end? What about the Systems? Surely I can make this all into one system? I ask this because I've made the RPU (a filter) mechanical equipment (for lack of a better category) but am having trouble adding it with the fan and 5 grilles. Perhaps I've gone about this the wrong way? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I've attached an update version with at least the "return" side working correctly. Still having some trouble with the centrifugal fan side, but I'll have development investigate why that is reporting a "problem".

Wow!!

And that's why I love AUGI!! Thanks a lot fot the help Mr Martin. So, what was the problem on the 4 Grilles side? I was almost certain it was the connection between the 45° and the main duct which it doesn't appear to be. And now the fan? That's weird, I'm currently this morning (it's 09:00am over here) busy trying to fit my own fans to see what happens as the fan you saw came with the program and I'm never too sure about those families.

Ah yes, I also saw what you did with the systems, mixing up the connectors a little there, it looks good. I'm still quite new to Revit and was unsure how that would've worked but I think I've just learnt something there, thanks again. I will be posting the project again soon as it develops and eagerly await some more news or info on anything you discovered, through my project or anything at all!!

Speak to you soon!!!

Good Day!

Fantastic development, I've finally got the system up and running. On the Inlet side I've just added 4 boxes that the 4 Grilles would attach to, which are just square ducts in the project. On the Fan side however, I've added my own Fan family but the problem didn't end there. Upon investigating further I opened the RPU family and noticed the Inlet and Outlet weren't inline with eath other! Now I really don't think that should've made too much of an issue, they are connected to each other however and are of different sizes but as soon as I fixed it by adding an EQ parameter everything was fine. Another reason (as I really don't know WHY it worked or didn't in the first place) could have been because my biggest Fan of my family that I added's Inlets and Outlets are only 312mm Dia and the Main duct at the end is 400mm Dia so when I told the motor to "connect into" (which I'd repeatedly done before and to no avail) it added 2 transitions and seemed to be more satisfied with itself and now showed me the all inspiring message:
"No duct system errors found"

A massive thanks for your help Jason and if I may ask for your futher comments on what the project is now (which I've attached) and maybe if you have a better idea as to what the problems were originally or maybe it was the way Revit was "seeing" my design, I dunno.

Either way, thanks again and I look forward to hearing more from you soon!!
