How do you use special charactors for dimensions and text objects?
I want to be able to use degree, diameter and plus or minus symbols.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Beegee;

Thanks for that information.
The unicode didn't seem to work for me.
I was able to drag & drop into text box?
Can you assign special keys on a keyboard to input special charactors?
ANyone know how to do this?
Also the font I want to use only has 3 different stacked fractions.
Is there a way to get the other missing ones added to my font and give them a unicode?
Would I need a special program to do this?

Thanks;

The Unicode character code must be entered using the 10 number keypad, not the standard numbers above the Qwerty keys.

Some fonts have their own keystrokes. Greg Cashen published THIS LIST (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=2505&highlight=character)for ARchitxt font characters for instance.

I don't think you can add characters to a font that is not already mapped for them, but I don't know for certain.

Beegee;

I was able to create macros on my keyboard for all these special charactors and they work great!
Now I need a programmable keypad to create more macros; since I used up all of the ones on my keyboard.

The easiest way I know to do this is to use the ASCII characters built in all computers. To use these characters you need to hold down the left ALT key and using the numeric keypad type in the ASCII code for the symbol you want. The ones you specified in your post are:

Degree = ALT + 167 º
Diameter = ALT + 0248 ø
Plus Sign = ALT + 43 +
Minus Sign = ALT + 45 -

Hope this helps!

And ALT + 0177 = Plus/Minus ±

Hee, hee. Been trying to figure out why it didn't work. Forgot that it had to be numberic keypad. Thanks!
