gray edges

Help! When I create a 3D view using the default 3D view icon and shaded with edges, I get gray lines instead of black. I have been all over every nook and cranny of visibility graphics and I can't find what's controlling this!

Any suggestions?

Found it. The entire building is drawn as existing phase, but new 3D views were opening as new construction phase, so Revit was graying out objects that were not in the new construction phase, i.e. everything.
