View Full Version : How Do You Manage Detail Components?

We use detail components a lot for detailing. The detail components folder is so large and cumbersome to find things in. We are considering a couple of options. One, is to take the components used most often and place them in a separate folder so that hopefully, items will be easy to find, rather than spending time scrolling thru folder structures. Two, another suggestion made is to take the most commonly used components and include them in the template file.
Are any of you dealing with components like this? Or not?
Thanks.
no need to have them in a separate template, just have them in a separate drafting view in your current template. They're most likely going to wind up in the project anyways, so why have the user open a separate file just to grab them when they could already be loaded in the file, and their size is rather minimal in comparison to the rest of the project.
Personally, I maintain in our template a drafting view with the most common components. No one has had reason to complain, and the extra moment it takes to get other components doesn't seem to be an issue with people.

I've been thinking of creating a Drafting View Master.....where all the typical detail components, text types, line styles, etc are in one view...then you can copy out the detail into another view. We had something similar with Autocad once upon a time...and with a LISP that would wblock the detail automatically in the set area.
If I could do the same thing for Wall Sections...
