Surface Error

Could someone please let me know why when I have 2 surfaces selected to sample to create a profile why am I getting this message? "No sampled terrain data". Both of the surfaces are up to date and have been set as the current surface. Thank you.

Verify that both surfaces are built and that your alignment
and any offset alignments are fully within the limits of your
surface model.
