Fields will not update automatically

FIELDEVAL is set to 31

We have to manually use UPDATEFIELD to get our plot stamps to update

I have tried existing projects and brand new blank drawings with just the date/time

This is happening on multiple computers.

How do we make the files update automatically on open/save/plot/etc.....

From the Help files :
Note: The Date field is updated by UPDATEFIELD, but it is not updated automatically based on the setting of the FIELDEVAL system variable.
Are you using anything other than the date fields?

This is what AutoCAD says in their helpfile:

You can update a field manually when you want to see the latest value. With Date fields, you must update them manually, they never update automatically.

You can get a date field to update if you use a diesel expression instead of out-of-the-box field variables.
