bolt hole voids

I have to create 7 base plate of which has 4 holes each... but the size of hole of each plate can be changed. so I thot of using a void to cut the hole as linked rfa... but i can't get the void to subtract out the space. or is there a better way

Is your void a face based family and is it cutting the extrusion in it's family?

It is cutting an extrusion however the plate itself is floor based the void is just general model

no just the plate... i am trying to cut the plate in the family editor...

Create a solid for the plate then create voids for all holes. Dimension the hole's radius and attach a parameter to control it.
If for any reason it still wouldnt cut the solid (plate) then use the cut tool.
