wall fill shenanigans

I have a wall with "solid fill" coarse scale fill pattern and gray coarse scale fill color. The fill is obscuring half my coarse scale wall's wide lines. Shouldn't any fill be behind any linework, or is there a setting I don't know about? Autocad has "lines merge" to resolve this. Example attached.

Is it a short wall? (Below 6')

Are these walls on different views?
Do they share the same View Scale? Lineweights definitions are view dependent.

Both walls in my example are 7'-2" tall but are cut by my cut plane. Their types are exactly the same except for coarse scale fill pattern and coarse scale fill color. They are in the same view as I printed my screen for the example.

Well, duh. I had the Visual Style set to "Wireframe". Switching to "Hidden Line" resolved this issue.
