Hi Augi,
I'm working with revit structure 2011. I have a problem and I can't create a independent plan view from the primary view.
Architect file was able to do this. They had 1 overall plan that was rotated and put on a sheet. The primary plan was used just for the enlarged dependent views it had associated with it (enlarged views are to be put on a sheet).
I want to know how to create a overall plan view from my primary plan as its own entity or view?
Thanks

I think what you are saying is, you're trying to use the primary view as the overall view on the 30x42 sheet. I always did this by making the overall view and the primary view two seperate entities. My primary view itself doesn't end up on a sheet only the dependent views that are generated by it.
This is what I'm trying to say, but I can not find how to create two seperate entities or views. Please help.

In your project browser find the view you want to duplicate, right click on it and choose Duplicate. You now have an independent view that can be placed on a sheet.
I would suggest this approach for having an overalll plan that acts as a key plan for detail plans..
Create an overall plan view as a duplicate of the primary view (the one Revit creates when you place a level datum). This view will be your overall plan that will be placed on the sheet, scaled to fit (let's say 1:200 for arguments sake)
Create another duplicate of the overall plan view at whatever scale your detail plans will be (say 1:50) This view is not placed on a sheet but is used as the parent view for a series of dependent views representing your enlarged plans.
Duplicate as dependent from this view, adjust crop regions and place these on sheets as your detail plans.
On the 1:200 overall plan create a series of plan callouts that reference the 1:50 dependent views that you have placed on sheets. (This is done at the time you create the view by making sure the Reference Other View box is checked on the options bar)

Thanks for the input.
What I have done is created an independent view from the primary view. This works as independent for all annotations and stuff, but what I want to do is rotate the architectural link 90 degrees and not have it linked to my primary view.
Is there a way to rotate the architectural link per view and not have it mess up my whole project?
Reason for rotating the link is to have it match architectural files. They have enlarged plans that have been rotated 90 degrees to the overall plan. Not sure how they got this to work.

I fixed my problem.
I created a independent view from my primary view with duplicate - then I turned on my crop region and rotated the view to how I wanted.
Thanks Dimitri. You sent me down the right road. Thanks alot
