hello fellow users, i apologize for the very basic question,,,,,i am currently working on a structural framing plan and havign problems evenly spacing my beams btwn columns and also lining up my beams with my columns. i have a background in revit architecture and is working my way through revit structure ..do you think having formal training on revit architecture is enough to work on revit structure?

There's a few ways you could do this. Use a "beam system" to automatically do this, however you may run into issues later on if you need to make slight adjustments. I'm not a big fan of them.
Personally I just add the number of beams to the bay, add a dimension string, hit the equal button to make them evenly spaced. Then hit the eq button again to remove the constraints and you can delete the dimension.

Yep - David nailed it on easily spacing the beams. For lining up the beams with columns (do this first), you use the "align" tool, click the centerline of the column and then the beam - it will snap in line with the column. Then you can dimension the beams and click the EQ button and they will all space out properly.

the beam system is probably the best method, as you can set a maximum spacing distance, and other helpful offsets. This then means if your bay spacing increases or decreases for some reason, it will adjust the actual total number of elements it places to suit your spacing limits. The method of modelling each beam then dimensioning will not be as intelligent but can mitigate other problems that you might encounter with the beam system tool

Hi,
Depending on what I want to achieve I sometimes use an array as it creates a group of the members. If I for example have to cut or trim a set of beams at alter stage it will automatically update all of the beams in the array.

Thanks for the response! both ways worked!!!
