change default settings

I was wondering if there was a way to change some of the default settings for things like plumbing fixture tags. When a tag is inserted it is always set to a boxed style and leader checked and I have to change it every time. I would also like to turn off the tag on placement option because it is just another thing I have to undo. I know after I turn it off once in a revit session it remembers it but can I change the default setting so I can just turn it on only when I need it?

There are many other annoying default settings I would like to change but have not found where to change them. Is there a config file somewhere where I can set defaults like this?

Make those changes in the Type Properties not the Instance Properties and they will stick for all of those specific tags. Tags can also be set up that way in the template file.
