Anyone got any experience with creating Rapid Prototype models from Revit?
What file formats can be used?

Hi. We have some experience here, as we export the Revit model to a Z Corp 3D printer. In general we, are process is to really clean up the model and change everything to a minimum thickness of 6" to 1' depending upon the scale of the model to be printed.
We typically export to FBX and then convert the file to an *STL file for printing purposes. We find this to be the cleanest method.

I've used Dimension Printing a few times.
I send straight to STL then use Magics to cleanup.
Like Teresa mentions, scale is the biggest factor.

Yes, you can export directly to and STL file from Revit if you download the tool from Autodesk Labs or Subscription.
You can find information here:

We usually send it to 3D Max for more clean up, etc. before exporting to STL. It does depend upon the model.
