Controller Grid/Level Extension from Scope Box

If you associate a Grid of Level to a Scope Box, the grid/level will extend 1" or 2450 past the scope box.

I am aware I can drag the end of the Grid/Level Lines back in should I so desire.
I'm just wondering if this a hard-coded system value or if I have have any direct control over it at all? I haven't been able to find anything.
