Is there a way I can make the top of columns to be consistently 7" offset from the floorline above?

I found out if the floor height is different from one floor to another floor., the offset will not work. Am I missing somthing here?

I started creating the columns on basement: have them setup to be top offset 7" from the ground floor.
When I copy the entire thing and paste them on the ground floor. The top offset becomes 4'-7" from the 2nd floor because the floor height is 4' higher. I don't think I have to duplicate it and call it as another name intentionally, right?

Thanks in advance.

Model a reference plane at the desired column height, label it, and draw your columns hosted to the reference plane rather than a level. Thats the easiest way. If this is a consistent distance from a level, cut a section or elevation, dimension from level to reference plane, and lock the dimension.
