HELP!
I downloaded & attempted to install ACAD 2012 (32 bit) today. But after running the install program it reported that the installation had failed. I am running Windows XP. I got the following error message:
"Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action OldAppName script error -2146827850. Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this property or method: 'session.property' Line 5, Column 10,"

The message means nothing to me.

Any ideas? Anyone else have a problem with installing 2012?

I looked around for a 2012 version Forum - didn't find any so I opted to post here. Sorry if I'm in the wrong place.

the autodesk discussion groups have a section specifically for installation issues, you may get better results there.

I havent gotten around to installing it anywhere else other than my machine. my experience is that I had to install Dotnet Framework 4 separately, then AutoCAD installed just fine.

I tried to install Civil3d 2012 on vista ultimate 64 bit (used the 64-bit installer)
It failed. i managed to use control panel to reinstall and it completed. I got to the activation page, that worked, but the program never loaded.
now, when i try and start it, it just stays on the Loading plugins: (full path)\AecBase.dbx
the progress bar moves but just keeps on moving around, never goes anywhere after that.
32 bit install worked on an XP sp3 machine.

anybody got any ideas?

There's your problem:

vista
what were you using to install it? (perhaps there is something wrong with the installer files) perhaps a full uninstall, reinstall may be required. I have now installed 2012 on a Win7 64 bit Ultimate, WIn7 64 bit Professional, Win Vista 32 bit Ultimate, and Windows XP SP3 without any issues.

All 2012 adsk products require Microsoft .Net 4.0 - please ensure you have that installed prior or the install will fail.

seems that your machine is not able to pull the license. Try checking LICPATH.LIC file on your machine (Open with Notepad) and see if it points to your license server. If OK, then continue with restarting your license server and re-reading the license (LMTOOLS). After that, go into command prompt (Start>type "CMD"). Once in command prompt type PING and the address of your server. After that, check in the license Server if you have "LMTOOLS ignores license path environmental varaiables" unchecked. If thsi is teh case, then your machine may have environmental variable set to point to the server. or visit http://www.techyv.com/questions/failure-install-autocad-2011
