So I looking for some tips on the proper conversion of an AutoCAD 2011 DWG to a Microstation DGN?

Specificity past pitfalls or tips anyone may have to offer (ie. blocks, fonts, symbols, fractions , etc.)

I'm familiar with the export to DGN command and it process's. But have notice some glitches with the above examples.

All this being said if anyone has some previous experience in converting DGN to DWG while retaining any "smart" information Microstation may have in the file it would be greatly appreciated.

Both products claim to work with the other format. Both fall short. 2012 does have a marked improvement on importing DGN files.

Here are my basic warnings:
Never except a DWG file that has even been opened in Microstation. Microstation does some automatic saving (no matter what settings you use) and once Microstation has modified the file, it WILL cause stability issues in AutoCAD and it takes a lot of tedious work to fix it.

Do not try to export to the DGN format from AutoCAD, instead allow Microstation to do it.

Make sure that those in Microstation use only fonts that come standard with Windows, this should prevent font issues.

There is no way to convert to DWG that retains the "smart" information from the Microstation file, the information simply isn't compatible with the format.

Do not expect DWG files and DGN files to look the same, you will be very disappointed. Close will have to be good enough and as long as the scale is right, you are good.
