Revit - Schedule Linked Files

Hi,

I would like to schedule my linked revit files. Is this possible?
Scheduling their linked sheets for the master sheet list wasn't a problem. But now all I would like to do is schedule them to get at least number counts e.g. the amount of each type of revit link.
(Its a huge site with lots of type a, b, c housing.

Yes, you can schedule across links.
It is an option you need to check in the Schedule Properties dialog box. You might need to put a custom filter for different buildings. That might take a little doing, but there is probably a way to get it to work.

Yes I know how to and have used the "include elements in linked files" option. It worked well to create a master drawing list in the main file.

You are probably right in relation to the custom filter. Unfortunately I do not know how to create these. If there is a tutorial or similar that anyone know of that would be very helpful.

My question to Revit User 1 is how on earth did you schedule or link in your other revit files sheets? I have not been able to do this. I have searched through many forums and I have not come across anyone who has been able to do this. Please help me out. :? I am at a loss, I work for a multi-discipline firm and I have not been able to create a Master Sheet list without creating placeholder sheets or dummy sheets which does not really help me out much.

See the attached image.

In order for this to work the sheets in the linked project the Appears in Sheet List parameter must be checked.
If they want to have a different list in their drawings then you can create an additional parameter that would allow you to filter the list on your side.

Hello,

how would you make the linked revit files to tell which level they are on?
for example. i have many linked files in my revit file. three different types (lets say A, B, and C revit files) a total of 153 file. and i have three floors levels (level 1, 2 and 3).
And since the total number of revit types A, B, and C on each floor varies. i would like the table to show how many on each floor.
i can only get to give me a total of type A, B, and C for the entire project. is there a way to break it up per floor?
Does anyone know how to show this?

Filter by Level.
Or in the case of say doors or rooms, since they may not be all associated with the same exact level, but they should all start with a say 1, 2 or 3, I would filter by door or room number starting with 1, 2 or 3. That should filter it down some.
If you need to further sort, you could add a shared parameter to the project, apply it to the category that you're trying to schedule and then fill out that parameter accordingly to get your filter to work the way you want.

I may be resurrecting an old post but I just found this and wanted to get some clarification. Hopefully, you can provide that.

I to am trying to schedule links. I am successful at scheduling them but, in my experience, links don't report the level they are on. They report a level but it is the level from the linked file. If you have a way, please let me know. It would make my life of scheduling links much easier. I have a work around but that is not the best solution.

Did you ever figure out a way to schedule the level? I have not figured it out yet. I have a work around where you "name" the link by level. I name all the links (for dwelling units I'm assuming) to a name like First Floor. Then you can use the RVT Link:Name parameter to sort "by level" but it is really by "RVT Link: Name".

If you have one of those fun tools to dump schedules out to excel and back you can do just about anything you want with them, just no automatically.
I've done doors that way but I used the door number starts with 1 for first floor and so on.
Since some of my floor were half levels I needed to make sure they all scheduled, so I just used the mark. Any door associated with level 1, began with a 1.
Just a thought.
