View Full Version : Section Sheets and Layout Names

Another tough question. I have plenty of those.

I have a block set up for a title frame, with a field for the sheet's title that references the sheet's name in the Sheet Set Manager. So, if the SSM has the sheet name as "Section 10+00 to 12+00 Line PR-1", that's what appears in the title block for that sheet. No problem there.

When I create the cross section sheets (Plan Production, Create Section Sheets), one of the settings is the Layout Name (and thus SSM name). The fields available are Next Counter, Parent Alignment, Sample Line Group Name, and Section View Group Name. Currently, I say "Section <[Next Counter(CP)]> Line PR-1", create my sheets and then go into the SSM and manually change the <[Next Counter(CP)]> to my station range.

Is there a way that I can add a property field somewhere that will automatically determine the first and last section view on that particular sheet? It's a pain to go in and rename forty or fifty sheets. Even worse if I add a section and and have to rename them.

Sounds like a good item for the wish list! This has never bothered me too much, as my section sheets normally are no more than 4-6 in a set, so changing the values manually is fairly quick....with 10 times that many sheets, I'd sure want it automated.

Just for information, you can do this for your plan and profile sheets. That is, "Plan Sta 10+00 to 12+00 Line A".

Scott, did you ever figure out how to label the cross section station range when cutting sheets?
I'm using Civil 3D 2012.

Ben,

Nope. Haven't figured that one out.

First post? Welcome to the forum.

I don't think this could be automatic, however it is one way of not tping in the data...

Well that blows... lol
That seems a bit short sighted of Autodesk. Why bother having a <[Section View Station]> field if it can't used for cutting sheets. argh
Thanks for the quick response guys.
