Using AutoCad 2011, my drawing order has changed and now I cannot get it back to the last object modified is on top. Also the grid lines are now showing up on top of the objects where before the grid was always under the objects. Is this the cause of the first? I must have fat fingered something. There is no straight forward answers in the help. Please mail me at dallen@newcenturyeng.com as I am at work and can not get to my home email from here. Thanks.

What is the WHIPTHREAD and what should it be? Mine is currently set to 1. I Followed the link to the other thread for SORTENTS and mine is set to 127 should I set it to 0?

I believe the default for 2012 is the same as your current settings, and I have not experienced this issue. Perhaps it is another sysvar. DRAWORDERCTL

What should it be?
if WHIPTHREAD is greater than 0, it may interfere with display draworder. if that's the case, the drawing should still preview and plot correctly

When moving between top view and sw iso view to perform a simple 3D rotate, after doing this several times, the white 2D UCS gets replaced with the colored 3D UCS when I go back to top view and select and (any) item for 2D work. This makes the video jumpy and my application performance sluggish. I shut down and restart with no success. This may be connected to why my draw order is getting messed up. Every time happens is when my draw order gets messed up. Speaking of which, DRAWORDERCTL command; what should it be set at? Mine is currently at 3. All the other settings listed in the above replies are set as listed. Now how do I get my 2D UCS arrow back when selecting items in 2D? I have tried all of the options in the VIEW, DISPLAY, UCS to no avail. This will more than likely get my video and performance back to normal. Please direct. Thanks

What graphics card are you using and are your display drivers current?
Do you have a non-zero value for ELEVATION ? (gridline position in original post)
Again from the original post - do you mean "last object modified is on top" or "last object created is on top".

My elevation is set to 0'-0". As far as Last object created and last object modified; when I was copying an object next to the copied from object it would normally be on top. When the above issue (my last reply) starts to happen then I loose the "last object" function. I am running a 64-Bit Dell Vostro 3700 i5 laptop with Windows 7 Pro, 6Gb ram and 500Gb HD. I have attempted to update the video driver before only to have the system tell me that the current driver is the most up to date available. Please continue to help? Thanks.

Okay, when you copy an object, no objects are modified and the copy is the last object created.
With SORTENTS=127 the last created object should be on top. With SORTENTS=0 it should be hidden by the older object.

Thank you that helps me understand SORTENTS
