We are using AutoCAD 2010. I am a self taught user with almost no training. I have spreadsheets that I have created in Excel 2010 that complete many engineering calculations yet output the information in a format that is suitable for inserting in a construction drawing as a table. When I link the Excel file to a drawing and inset the range of cells included in my print range, it does not insert with all formating. I basically want it to look just like the document I would print from Excel but I want it to update the information each time I open the drawing file. That way, I can still make use of the calculations built into the spreadsheet but not have to worry about manually making the changes in the drawing if an Excel file is updated.

I would love to know if this is possible and if so, some direction on how to do this.

Thanks,

Hi Richard,
I hope I am understanding your question correctly. I am assuming that you have a general knowledge of AutoCAD 10.

Before trying the 'cut & paste' method (assuming that is what you did)

Try:
_INSERTOBJ
Select the radio button 'Create from File'
click on 'Link'
then click on 'Browse...'

The 'Link' should update every time you make changes to the 'Excel'

Let me know how that works for you.
