View Full Version : Hidden lines in sheets? (acad defpoint process)

I am trying to create a template, and ran into a little issue. is there any way to create a line (in sheets not views, or families) that does not print, this line also does not export.
In acad there is a layer that is called def points. this layer never plots, and we can use it to make guidelines, similar to the ref plains in family's. In fact in acad I can make every line not plot.

my workaround is that I created a linetype and added the lines to a group and placed them on multiple sheets (by making it a group I can copy and paste it on multiple sheets, and if I need to change the group it changes it on every sheet), I have also made this linetype with some butt ugly color that stands out. when I get ready to plot the set I go in and turn off that linetype, or hide the category, seems to complicated a process for me, this is why I am looking for a no plot detail line.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you open the sheet family itself, you can add invisible lines that will highlight when you pass over them, i.e. to use as a guide when placing a symbol. They won't print or export.

Thanks for the reply, but that seems to much like micro managing. I want to create guidelines throughout the set, that just doesn't plot. It would be cool If I could draw ref lines on sheets, or just be able to use the invisible lines on sheets hey a wishlist item ha ha
