Every time I try to save a drawing my program becomes 'unresponsive' and freezes. I have tried opening Cad and saving a drawing without drafting anything and it does the same thing. This has never happened before, does anybody have a solution for me?

Thanks

It's likely that acad is looking for a location (probably on a network) that doesn't exist.
Go to Options\Files tab and work your way through the lists.

Does it freeze before displaying the save dialog?
If so, try this test.

Type in FILEDIA, set it to 0
Run your Save or SaveAs command again.
Does it allow you to save now?

No, that did not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled this afternoon and the program worked without an issue. Some hours later now, it is beginning to happen again. I cannot open or save a drawing without the program crashing.

yes, when i set filedid to 0 all goes fine, but simple ctrl+s command became a real challenge:)
I also tried to change "Go to Options\Files tab and work your way through the lists" and would have changed default patch.
But win7 doesn't allow me to do it: The directory specified for automatic saves must exist and have read\write permission.
BUT I'M ADMIN!!

With FILEDIA set to 1, when you try to SaveAs, does the dialog *ever* come up? Even if you wait 10-15 minutes?

If you've turned FILEDIA off, then you should only see command line entries to access files or folders. However, normally if you enter a tilde character, ~ , at the command line prompt for file name, the file dialog will pop up.

Does that happen in your situation, or does the application seem to hang?

New job... New computer, new installation of Acad2010 ... using windows 7... Result = could not save.
Followed advice: Type in FILEDIA, set it to 0

Yes... Filedia now '0' (save button did not work) but was able to save the file by following prompts in the command line and eventually pasting the file path (to remote server) manually... rather tedious but let me know it is pathname issue.
Reset to FILEDIA to (1)... = same problem so took advice of Jaberwok then did the trick...
ie. Go to Options\Files tab and work your way through the lists.

I found the files tab... and in the SupportFileSearchPath line ADDed a path to our server.
Great joy at the result as I can now save normally with Filedia set to 1

Simple fix but insurmountable to solve without AUGI help...
Thanks for the advice... now a AUGI member...
