My company recently migrated over to a new file server running Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit. We have HP notebook computers running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. We are having problems Synchronizing with Central on our Revit Workshared projects with our local files. Creating the new central file on the new server is required and standard practice for our office. The problem becomes apparent when Synch with Central is run and it locks up Revit Arch 2011. There is no network traffic and you cannot End Process (cannot close Revit) using Task Manager. You have to shut down the computer manually by holding the power button and restart. It only happens to certain projects and certain computers - not everyone.

Our IT Manager has disabled the Symmantec Endpoint Protection anti-virus on the file server.
It also sometimes happens to certain people running Newforma Project Center when Newforma tries to create a zip file on the new server. Newforma locks up and cannot be shutdown. Windows Explorer gets screwed up as well.

Is anyone running Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit?
Does anyone have any ideas? I do not think it is a Revit 2011 issue.

Is everyone connecting to the central file in the same way? Usually its via a mapped drive letter....but if someone has a different letter or connects to the central a different way it can cause issues with pathing.

Also is the new server also the domain server? Sometimes things get messed up user wise in migrations....have your IT person create a temp user and see if you still have the same issue.

Yes everyone is connected the same way. We have a separate domain controller/server.
