I'm trying to find a place to download the Metric Steel database for Revit. I've already changed the units and created dimensions. Is there a place to get this file from, and if so, is it really as easy as just importing it? Thanks

Why do you need to download the metric library? When you install Revit, choose a country with metric units and Revit will download the library automatically.

Also, you can check:

It seems that you have to install US Metric to find what you need.

The problem is that for the majority of our jobs we use the Imperial Library. We just started working on a project where everything is in metric including the shapes. So, I was hoping that it was possible to download the metric library files outside of the initial install of Revit and therefore apply it to a template for future jobs of the same type.

My install of Revit Structure 2012 (US version) installed both US Metric and US Imperial Libraries.

My install of 2011 (US version) only had US Imperial Library.

Download the library appropriate for you. Also, make sure you use the unpack contained in there that retains the file structure, or be prepared to spend a good day sorting your families out.

Yes, I'm still using 2011 as my employer just received the 2012 version. What we had to do was simply install a trial version of Revit on another computer, select a metric region, and then copy over the metric library (which took about 20 minutes) next to our imperial library.
