Revit Server installation - script required for this install could not be run.

I've tried installing revit server 2012 a number of ways on our main server, it works fine on other servers but not on the one it needs to be on.

The error I get is: "There is a problem with this windows insteller package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

The log shows this:

which does not help me at all. If I try running the msi directly from the x64\tools\revitserver directory I notice that htis error occurs right after it says its installing the services.

Can anyone help me trouble shoot this? where else can I find information on what script it is that is required?

Have you contacted Autodesk support? Sounds like maybe there is some conflict with an existing service?

So the issue is that you must install Revit Server via the Revit "setup" .exe and cannot skip the msi, unlike the subscription advantage pack version that was released for 2011. This is documented on the blog "Revit Clinic".

Ya, It's very unfortunate, because the 30 MB Revit Server folder is MUCH, MUCH easier to get copied to servers all over the world than the 5 GB Deployment package!

Yeah... I think everyone is in agreement on that. The issue has been clearly conveyed to Autodesk, I can say that much.
