Hello

I administer Revit Architecture for our office, and am well-versed in that, but I recently got a question from one of our consultants about the capabilities of Revit MEP.

Can someone explain how conduit sizing works? Is it automated based on the number of circuits assigned to a particular run (or the wire size itself)? The question is whether Revit will increase or decrease the conduit size based on the addition or deletion of runs, or increased loads on the wires in the runs, throughout the course of the project.

Hopefully my question is somewhat clear...just need a thumbprint understanding of electrical workflow with Revit. All I've seen in my experience are the finished models for linking...don't know how the sausage factory actually works. Any engineering Reviteers available to explain this?

Thanks

No it is not automated. You have to size it as it is drawn.

No way, conduit is merely a placeholder in MEP for clash detection and/or design layout intent. The conduit elements are empty objects, and not smart enough to know that wire is supposed to be run inside them. Remind them that conduit was just added to RME in 2011, and have a ways to go before they are that intelligent
